This is going to sound kind of stupid, but when I see or read or hear about the demonstrations that have been taking place to object the passing of a gay marriage ban, it makes me get choked up. On NPR this morning I heard an interview with a woman who was there with her child and husband marching because she didn't want her kids to grow up in a place where they couldn't fall in love with and marry whomever they choose. I've been feeling pretty emotional lately, but that actually made me cry a bit. I wish that the minorities who voted for these bans would remember the days when laws were passed making it illegal for black and whites to marry. This is not a gay rights thing. It's a human rights thing.
I'm going to call my husband now because I'm feeling really schmaltzy and need to hear his voice.
